Manual Set-Up Guide

Setting up our SIM card is 3 easy steps.
Your SIM is already pre-activated and is ready to use!

Step 1 Register Your SIM

Please register your SIM before leaving to Japan.

Sign In to My eConnect

  1. Go to the sign in page and enter MSISDN and Serial Number of your SIM
  2. Tap "Sign In"

What is MSISDN and the Serial Number?

MSISDN and the Serial Number is found at the back of the SIM.
The MSISDN is the one on top and the Serial Number is the one on the bottom with the red box marker.Please see the picture below.

Enter your information

Enter your name and email address.
* The information is used for email notifications.

Enter your information

Select a data plan

Choose a data plan.
* The available options depend on the SIM you purchased.

When to activate your SIM

You can choose to activate it right now or to set a future date for its activation.

Set an activation date

  1. Change "Plan Start Date" to "Future Date"
  2. Tap the calendar icon
  3. Select a date when you would like your SIM to be activated

Complete registration

Tap "Submit".

Step 2 Insert Your SIM into Your Device

  1. Turn your device off
  2. Insert your SIM card into your device
  3. Turn your device back on

Step 3 Set the APN

For Mobile WiFi Router, etc.

Set the following APN information on your device.

APN soracom.io
Username econnect
Password econnect
Authentication type CHAP or PAP

For iOS Devices

* Internet connection is required

For iOS7 or later

  1. Open the link below in Safari
    Install APN profile (For iOS7 or later)
  2. "Tap "Install" in the "Install Profile" screen.
    (If it asks for Passcode, it should be the same as the unlock code for your device unless specifically set)"

For other iOS devices

  1. Open the link below in Safari
    Install APN profile (For iOS6 or earlier)
  2. "Tap "Install" in the "Install Profile" screen.
    (If it asks for Passcode, it should be the same as the unlock code for your device unless specifically set)"

Troubleshooting

  • Turn Airplane mode on and off might help in some cases
  • Reset network settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings)
  • Set the APN again
  • Restart the device
  • Passcode is the same as the unlock code for your iOS device unless set specifically.

For Android Devices

  1. Go to Settings > Wireless & networks > Cellular networks > Access Point Names
  2. Create a new APN
  3. Enter the below APN information and save it
APN soracom.io
Username econnect
Password econnect
Authentication type CHAP or PAP

Troubleshooting

  • Turn Airplane mode on and off might help in some cases
  • Create a new APN again
  • Restart the device
  • (Changing “Preferred network type” to 3G might help in some cases)
  • (Turning “Enhanced 4G LTE Mode” off might help in some cases)
